I’ve often wondered about Ballard’s lack of interest in music, something he shared with Burroughs.

Meanwhile, Terry Eagleton thinks there are no writers who deal with serious political, social, and economic questions any more. Naturally this is because Ballard, Ken MacLeod, Charlie Stross, Doctorow, Bruce Sterling and Co. have sci-fi cooties and therefore do not exist.
