Author: • Jan 10th, 2008 •

I have been informed that unfortunately JGB’s Southbank appearance on the 20th of February has been cancelled due to his ill health. Anyone who has bought tickets should contact the Southbank Centre for options.

UPDATE:
Kevan writes: ‘Sad news. I’ve just spoken to the South Bank Centre – they’re automatically refunding all past credit-card ticket purchases, and sending letters out to people affected. They also specifically advised that I “tear the tickets up”.’

  1. Sorry to hear he’s ill. Is it serious?

  2. I don’t really know. But reports of ill health have been around for a while now.

  3. The Southbank Centre appears to think its still going on…

  4. Canceling a show almost two months in advance seems very early to know of ill health. This concerns me greatly.

  5. Let’s hope the old man’s alright.

  6. i wish him a fast return

  7. Sad news. I’ve just spoken to the South Bank Centre – they’re automatically refunding all past credit-card ticket purchases, and sending letters out to people affected. They also specifically advised that I “tear the tickets up”.

  8. Kevan… don’t tear your ticket up — send it to me and I’ll ad it to the terminal Collection.

  9. Rick …. the Terminal collection? ….please, some respect – despite the wry that is appropriate

  10. Jim: granted, McGrath’s not exactly known for his subtlety, but in this case he’s referring to his web page, ‘The Terminal Collection’, patterned after Ballard’s ‘Terminal Beach’ short story. Full of Ballard rarities etc, his web page is.

  11. have just been told the World Service World Book Club recording with JGB due for this Thursday has been postponed as “the author is seriously unwell.”
