This is probably my favorite book. This has some of the most gorgeous prose I have ever read and is a truly uplifting book. It's one of the few, if not the only one of his novels that I might actually want to inhabit. Was this written before or after his wife's death? Probably before but it almost seems like a love letter to his recently deceased wife. I can see why he stopped writing this kind of fiction for awhile. Where else could he go with it?
