Here’s an excerpt from the BBC documentary, The Martians and Us, focusing on J.G. Ballard’s The Drowned World. It features Ballard cheer from Brian Aldiss, Christopher Priest, Will Self, Roger Luckhurst, Brian Stableford and John Sutherland.

  1. Yay, this is cool, Simon. I feel honored for contributing to Ballardian.

  2. Excellent. Wish we could see the whole film soon. It is about British SF or SF in general?
    PS
The Drowned World images are perfect! Very close to wath i pictured while reading the book.

  3. pedro, you contributed to youtube really, but we thank you for it! by the way, this cuts out at further mentions of ballard’s career. do you have the rest of the doco? is it possible to upload the other ballard bits? cheers and thanks.

  4. great fun. thanks.

  5. Simon, unfortunately this is the only bit about Ballard. Immediately after it comes a segment about Chris Priest’s _Fugue for a Darkening Island_ which is a continuation of their exploration of disaster fiction: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5tycLkxX5Y

  6. Even though the whole film does not focus on Ballard, I think I will try to watch it, it looks interesting enough!
