Site update

Hard to believe a month has passed since I tended to this site.

I submitted my thesis last Friday, and now it’s down to the examiners. I’m out of jail and in the halfwayhouse waiting for final parole. I can see a sliver of daylight through the crack in the angle between two walls. Coming up for air.

I’m sure there are many other cliches to describe the mindstate of the recovering PhD student. Also, there is much JGB news to catch up on. I hope to make a start on some new posts over the next few days.

Warm thanks to everyone who sent words of encouragement and advice over the past few weeks.

Simon

  1. Congratulations!

  2. Thanks John! I still have to wait for results, but it is nice to have the thing written. Cheers.

  3. I wondered where the blog had gone. People don’t normally have such a good excuse!

  4. Well done, fella.

  5. yep, there is nothing like gut-wrenching fear to get a chap over the line.

  6. Good job, and good luck still.

Glad to see you’re still alive and kicking (and screaming for a minute there I’m sure).

  7. CONGRATULATIONS! Now YOU will be the CERTIFIED JGB WORLDWIDE Literary Ph.D Expert! Way to go! Does your Dep’t require an “oral defense” exam of your thesis? If so, call us – we’ll be there with guns on to back you up! And plenty of surging, crashing cars and low-flying aircraft!

  8. Crashman, no oral defence in Australia, we are assessed solely on the thesis. But thanks for the offer! And I’m hardly an expert, just very interested in JGB’s writing.

  9. Well done Simon! Hopefully you won’t be waiting as long as I have been!!!
